When you make the switch from SLS shampoo products to a natural shampoo bar,  it is critical to do an apple cider vinegar hair detox. What this means, is you are simply removing the artificial greases in hair conditioners that stay on your hair.

When you have been using regular SLS shampoo and it's conditioner counterpart, here's what you actually do:

You wash your hair with a detergent that stripes your hair, including your last shampooing's hair conditioner. If you pay attention, your hair feels dry and stiff after it has been shampooed.

You then apply an artificial grease that coats each individual hair. This is called hair conditioner. The artificial grease attracts moisture from the air and attaches it too each hair. This makes your hair feel heavy and it makes it take a long time to dry. This hair care method will also give your hair volume and shine.

The downside, is these chemical ingredients will absorb through your scalp, and leave small chemical deposits on your vital organs, causing you problems as you age.

Is Vinegar Good For Your Hair?

Yes, vinegar is good for your hair. What apple cider vinegar on hair does, is it gently adjusts your hair ph to bring the ph down a bit. This will gently remove the artificial ingredients from your old hair conditioner and rinse it off.

Once your hair is free from chemical ingredients in hair conditioners, the hair repair process begins and you are ready to begin your transition to a natural shampoo bar.

As a home remedy for dandruff, apple cider vinegar for dandruff will remove scalp flakes, while repairing scalp damage. Be aware, that if the dandruff is severe, this is a long slow process, and your scalp make sting a bit with the apple cider application.

Apple cider is good for split end repair and will also add some shine to dull hair.

AVC Hair Rinse

ACV hair rinse is a simple task that you can do often depending on your hair type and your hair and scalp needs. Do this apple cider vinegar detox the same  as you would normally wash your hair.

The technique is easy:

For those of you with a lot of thick long hair, you may need 1/2 - 3/4 cup of vinegar, mixed in 1-2 cups of water.

For those of you with little hair, a tablespoon or 2, mixed in a 1/4-1/3 cup of water, may be enough. Rinse with water. Then shampoo and again massage your scalp and hair all the way to the ends. This 1st shampooing may not be very lathery as it washes off the vinegar. Shampoo a second time and you'll get a nice lather and fabulously clean hair.

When your vinegar with water mix is ready, pour the mixture on your hair, avoiding any contact with your eyes. Massage the vinegar/water mix into your scalp and all the way to the tips of your hair. Gently rub your hair around as if you were washing it.

Rinse the vinegar off with water. You are now ready to wash your hair with your new natural shampoo bar.

How often should you do an acv rinse?

How often you should do an acv rinse, depends on your hair and scalps needs. For healthy normal hair, once or twice a year.

For normal to dry hair, you may want to do an apple cider hair wash once a month.

Apple cider vinegar for hair

Apple cider vinegar for hair has great benefits for your hair. However, it is possible to do an apple cider vinegar hair cleanse too often. This will give the appearance of over conditioned hair making it very flat, and sometimes, a bit heavy.

Once or twice a year, an apple cider vinegar on hair will provide some B vitamins and Vitamin C. It will also gently exfoliate the skin on your scalp, assisting with dandruff issues.

What kind of vinegar is good for hair

The best apple cider vinegar is raw, unpasteurized vinegar, that has a nice mother. This acv will have the most nutrients, providing the most benefits.
