The Soap Tribune, Issue #154--celebrate the harvest with local foods November 19, 2022 |
Ithaca Farmers MarketI can't believe it's the middle of Nov. already. It's time to plan to warm your home or someone else's with good food and great conversation. The Ithaca Farmers Market is bursting with late Fall harvests of purple, orange, white and green cauliflower. I made the most beautiful fermented purple cauliflower from Stick and Stone Farm. You will have to click the link to see the color of the brine. New hours! Saturdays and Sundays 10-2pm starting Saturday Nov. 5th Last Saturday Market is 12/17/22 (the Rutabaga Curl) Last Sunday Market is 11/27/22 (we generally do not attend the last Sunday Market) Andy will be there til the very last! Come to the Ithaca Farmers Market to get colored cauliflowers while they last. Say hello to us in booth 6.
Soap Gift SetsA few shoppers asked me if I had soap gift sets so they could get one shipped to a friend, who is an Ithaca Soap lover.I thought about it for a while, since building a website can be challenging. I wanted the sets to be what our community of Ithaca Soap users would actually appreciate. We can ship them right to your gift recipients. Simply put their address in the where to ship section of the shopping cart. Of course you can also get a set for yourself.
Wool washing and Free Sweater PatternI am getting all of my sweaters ready for Winter by washing them and drying them outside in the cool late Fall air. Give useful gifts this year. Are you a knitter or know a knitter? Do you have wool looking for a pattern? I missed the NYS Sheep and Wool Festival this year due to family obligation, but not in spirit. I am giving away one of my sweater patterns. Get a free pdf of Andy's Jersey Sweater with every purchase of 4 quarts of Instant Liquid Soap. The link was broken last week. I fixed it, so now it takes you to the correct web page. Click the links below for hand washing instructions and to get your free pattern.
Buy in bulkLast Saturday, while I was doing running the Ithaca Farmers Market booth, so many people stopped in to see me (Andy was elsewhere). It's always great to visit in a great setting. It was a lovely day on the waterfront. So many of my visitors said the same thing... It takes me forever to go through the soap! The bars last forever and the liquid soap also lasts a very long time. This year, as we pay closer attention to the economy and where it's headed, more product for your spending dollars is key. You can buy in bulk and give useful gifts that go a long way, increasing the value of that gift.
House cleaningThe nights are cooler, and the days are getting shorter. We are spending more time indoors. That means more time spent cooking and cleaning. One bag of Instant Liquid Soap, diluted to 2 gallons is an excellent soap to clean the house. Click the link below for simple zero waste house cleaning tips.
